Heading to Mexico City!

Hello Friends and Family!

You’ve found the blog of the MOBY Mexico Missions Team 2014!  We’re so excited to be heading back to Mexico City for the 5th trip as a team.  Though some of the team have been on all 5 trips, a number of students and leaders are heading there for the very first time.  That’s so exciting to us!  We join up with Pastor Jaime Becerra and his wife Sara, and their family (Isaac & Vivis and their baby son Hiram and Sara, Oscar and Luis) to serve at their Churches there.

We’ll be doing 2 Vacation Bible Schools there, one in Huixquilucan a city west of Mexico City where Pastor Jaime’s son Isaac and his wife Vivis are helping plant a Church.  Huixquilucan is in the more mountainous area of the region.  Then we’ll be heading back to Pastor Jaime’s Church called Getsamane Monte Sion in Mexico City (Santa Ursula, Coyoacan district, very near Azteca stadium)  If you look at Google Maps and type in Estadio Azteca, Mexico City, and look just north east of the stadium you’ll see Buenavista Street.  That’s the street the Church is on.  Sometimes it helps to have a reference point since the population of greater Mexico City is 21 million people.  With Canada at about 35 million that’s an amazing comparison.

Our heart is to really make a difference for these Churches in bringing energy and enthusiasm and resources to build relationships between the Church and their communities.  Our heart is to encourage the believers there - as we already know they deeply encourage us.  We long for children and families to come to a relationship with Christ and to help spur on all the good work that Pastor Jaime and his family do in Mexico City.  They are so precious to us!

We’ll be giving you updates here on the blog whenever possible from Mexico and (sometimes) from home.  Megan will be your host and blog writer in Mexico City and I (Christine) will be your host and writer if its from Edmonton.  Terry or Dave will probably pipe in along the way too and you’ll also hear from the students as well.

***You can subscribe to the blog by plugging in your email address on the spot on the right side bar of the blog “ Follow by Email”, then follow the prompts.  It will send you email updates every time we put up a new post.  As well, the team LOVES comments at the end of each post and is very encouraged by them, so if you want to leave a comment, I know first hand what a blessing that is to the team***

This is your way of being a part of the trip too.  I think it makes such a difference for you to hear first hand what is happening and it helps you in praying for us.

Prayer is one of the most vital parts of the trip for the team.  And this is how we feel like we partner with you back home, and around the world.  We are so blessed by your support for this team.  And now that God will take the heart and effort of the team, and the prayers of His people to impact this team and this trip in powerful ways.  More than we could ask or imagine!

We’re delighted to introduce the team to you and have you meet them and be praying for them.

and me...Christine, though I am not going to Mexico City this year with the team, my heart goes with them, and you’ll be hearing from me at different times so it’s nice to picture who’s talking to you.
